Chinchero Inca Textiles,Moray & Maras, Salt Mines, on this tour you will go to the Sacred Valley, and the Urubamba Valley of Peru. Located between Cusco and Machu Picchu, this valley is known for its lush landscape, picturesque colonial towns. Chinchero, the most typical of the Sacred Valley population is a purely Inca city that the conquerors wanted to “civilize” and establish their culture, but never succeeded fully. Its inhabitants live almost intact Inca buildings in the same place where their ancestors lived and formed the largest and most prosperous civilization in America.
Chinchero known as the city of the Rainbow and it is located 28 km. northwest of Cusco, about 3750 m., flanked by snow-capped Salkantay, Veronica ( WaccayWillca) and Chicon, Ausangate,Pitusiray and Sawasiray. The view from here is breathtaking. Chinchero belongs to the province of Urubamba, department of Cusco, where we will see Ancient Inca Textiles, how the local people preserve and conserve the natural dye. The local people skills using medicinal plantas Flowers, seeds, roots, volcanic rock, in orther to get natural dye.we can see the demostration and exibhicion, after visiting Inca Textiles Chicnhero, we will visit the enigmatic archaeological site of Moray where new crops were developed by the Inca using varying altitudes on a terraced system. And near the town of Maras is the complex of Salineras, where a salt water spring gushes forth from these high altitude mountains and tumbles down the mountainside into individual evaporation chambers which have been fully operational in bringing the people of the highlands salt, ever since Inca times.
This is a fantastic half day or Full Day tour to explore part of the Sacred Valley. You will see amazing views of the Urubamba mountain ranges, the Veronica mountain and the green valleys of farms. On this half day trip, you will be able to learn about agriculture, textiles, and the history of the Incas.

This beautiful drive is about 40 minutes from Chinchero. On our private transportation we drive, you will see the snow-capped peaks of the Andes, lush yellow fields of potatoes and cereal products growing and some villages. Finally, you will arrive at the fascinating display of terraces in Moray. Moray boasts three amphitheater-like terraces, made by the Incas. These terraces, which are carved deep into the earth, in the shape of a bowl, were thought to be used to determine the optimal conditions for growing crops.
When you are done exploring Moray, you will head about two miles away, to the salt mines of Maras. This village is known as a former salt-producing center and is thought to date back all the way to pre-Incan times. There are over 3,000 salt pools carved into the mountain side, that are filled daily by a stream of salt water. This spectacular area is perfect for you if you wish to see something different than the ruins, after visiting salt mines of maras we will return the same path that we used in the morning,On the way back to Cusco we can optionally have lunch in a local typical restaurant ( Lunch not Included), after which we will head back to the city of Cusco, we leave you in your Hotel.
In addition to the tour price, you must purchase a tourist ticket. A full tourist ticket costs s/130 or s/70 for students with a valid ISIC card. The full tourist ticket is valid for 10 days and allows entry to the majority of the Inca sites around Cusco and the Sacred Valley. This is a better option if you plan on also combining the city tour, or visiting any of the archeological sites outside the Sacred Valley in Cusco. An alternative option is to buy a partial tourist ticket which is s/70. This is valid for 1 day and will allow entry to all of the sites on the Moray Inca Site Tour and also Salt Mines 10 soles per person (not Included in the entrance fee, we need to pay separately, the salt mines belong to the maras community).
